The book
The book Ruta de Vida: how to plan your education and career in Copán guides you step by step: from primary school to employment, with practical advice on scholarships, trades, university and personal finance.
Ruta de Vida is a program by IPA-Copan in partnership with Rotary to help students in rural communities of Copán plan their education and career.
Many students struggle to make decisions about their education and their future. Ruta de Vida was created to help them overcome those challenges. If you have an IPA-Copan scholarship, you are already part of the program.
The program has four components that complement each other.
The book Ruta de Vida: how to plan your education and career in Copán guides you step by step: from primary school to employment, with practical advice on scholarships, trades, university and personal finance.
You can receive important announcements and connect with other students. There are groups by level: a Facebook group for sixth-graders and secondary students, and WhatsApp groups for trade-school and university students.
The program team offers guidance on topics like writing a résumé, finding a job, or finding a room to rent. If you need these services, contact the program team.
Artificial Intelligence allows computers to work as assistants on many topics, and your conversations are private. We encourage you to learn to use it as a tool to explore careers, answer questions, and plan your future.
Education is not just about acquiring information. It also helps develop the skills, values, and way of thinking needed to build a better future.
Education broadens your view of the world. It helps you question your ideas, develop critical thinking, and maintain curiosity for learning.
Higher levels of education tend to open doors to better jobs. Many professions require specific degrees or certifications.
Education helps you develop communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills that will be useful throughout your life.
Education can help improve living conditions and contribute to community well-being. In a constantly changing world, it allows you to adapt to new technologies and opportunities.
In communities supported by IPA-Copan, students who meet the requirements are guaranteed a scholarship for secondary education and can apply for a scholarship for trade school or university. Thanks to these scholarships, your education can be practically free.
Throughout your education there will be several important stages where you will need to decide which path to take. This diagram summarizes the stages and options available.
